WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  Fresh from sweeping a doubleheader in their last outing, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University baseball team hosts a three-game series this weekend.

The Lions face Southwestern Christian University (Ok) in a Friday doubleheader at the Waxahachie Sports Complex (directions below). The first game starts at 4:00pm (CST), the second at approximately at 6:00pm.

Saturday’s 1:00pm matinee will be played at the campus field, which is adjacent to the Sheaffer Center.

SAGU, 12-15 overall and 3-6 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, could improve their record to .500 by sweeping the Eagles (5-23 / 1-8 in SAC). SWCU is 1-8 on the road.

Head Coach Sam Blackmon has announced the pitching rotation for the series.

The twinbill on Friday will feature two left-handers. Pedro “Tres” Ortiz (Lorena, Tx / Lorena HS) gets the start in the opener while Jeremy Cross (Americus, Ga /Harker Heights HS, Univ of Dallas) takes the hill in the nightcap.

Ortiz, a freshman, is 1-6 with a 4.25 earned run average. Cross is a senior with a 2-1 record and a 6.04 ERA.

Sophomore Jarrod Pisors (Red Oak, Tx / Red Oak HS) gets the nod in game three. The 6’7 flamethrower is 4-3. His ERA is 2.80.

Admission is free and the public is invited.

The Lions are also at home on Tuesday, March 25. They meet Jarvis Christian College at 6:00pm at the WSC in a single, nine inning contest.
