Tommy Benningfield to lead Alumni Stars

baseball-cowboy-2014WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  The Southwestern Assemblies of God University baseball team will host a team of Alumni players on Saturday afternoon. The annual event is set to begin at approximately 1:00pm (CST).

The game is set to begin a 1:00pm (CST) at the campus ballfield. Students and fans are welcome to catch the action. Weather forecasts are expecting a partly sunny sky with a high of 68 degrees.

New Head Coach Sam Blackmon will lead the current Lions team, which has over 30 players in pre-season camp.

Tommy Benningfield, a former player and a current Assistant Coach, is heading up the Alumni Stars team.

SAGU began practices on Monday afternoon. They begin the 2014 season in two weeks.

Hillsdale College (Okla) comes to Waxahachie for a four-game series on Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1.

The Friday doubleheader will be played at 4:00pm at the Waxahachie Sports Complex. Saturday's twinbill is set for noon on campus.

SAGU posted a 14-34 record last spring. They will play their inaugural season as a member in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
