Killebrew, Pisors will start the first two games

WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  The young baseball team from Southwestern Assemblies of God University will enter the long grind of league games in the Red River Athletic Conference.

Friday and Saturday they play a three-game set in East Texas against Jarvis Christian College.

SAGU has begun the season with a 9-9 record while showing improvement in several areas, primarily pitching The test of that progress, however, will be graded during their 27-game RRAC season.

Jarvis, who did not field a team in the Red River a year ago, is back. The Bulldogs are 7-6.

SAGU Head Coach Jon Shockley announced during practice this week that Hayden Killebrew and Jared Pisors, a freshman duo from nearby Red Oak High School, will start games one and two. They are both right-handers.

A decision on who will get the nod in the series finale was not determined.

A report on the entire series will be posted on Sunday.

When the teams last met, two seasons ago, the Lions came away with a 2-1 series win. SAGU won the first and third games, 13-3 and 15-11. They lost the middle contest in a 10-7 decision.

In 2010 the Lions took the opener, 10-9, and then dropped three in a row; 13-8, 8-7 and 11-8.
