Baseball This Weekend: Snow Way

Lions Were Set to Play Four Games

PLAY BALL! Tuesday's doubleheader will take place at Reverchon Park, previous home for SMU baseball.WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  The Super Bowl isn't the only sporting event effected by this weekend's wintery mix of conditions. The Southwestern Assemblies of God University baseball team was scheduled to host a pair of doubleheaders today and Saturday.

Central Christian College, located 420 miles away in McPherson, Kansas, along with Arlington Baptist College, a local school, were set to play four games apiece this weekend in a three-way baseball venue. Those games have been wiped out due to the snow. The games with Central will likely not be made up. The games would've begun the season for both the Tigers and Arlington Baptist.

No make-up dates have yet to be determined for the SAGU-ABC games.

On Deck: Tuesday Doubleheader at Reverchon Park

The Lions will play a twinbill on Tuesday against Dallas Christian College, weather permitting. Game One is set for a 1:00pm first pitch. The extended forecast has temperatures rising to 50 degrees for the first time in ten days, though rain is possible.

Reverchon Park will host the two games. The beautiful area is located near the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in the Oak Lawn area, just east of I-35 and the start of the Dallas North Tollway. Reverchon has served as the home field for Southern Methodist University in previous years.

With the Lions hosting the University of Texas at Brownsville later next week, the team will use the games as a tune-up for about eight pitchers, according to Clay Scarborough, SAGU's pitching coach.

The Lions currently tote a 2-1 won-lost record. A week ago they topped Hillsdale College (Okla) twice in a three-game set played in beautiful 73 degree weather. Future games are posted under BASEBALL / Schedule on this website.
