Rain postpones Lions, Widcats
Saturday doubleheader set for noon
WAXAHACHIE, Texas -- After rain and wind forced the postponement of today's college baseball game between Southwestern Assemblies of God University and Wiley College in Marshall, Texas, the schools decided to move Saturday's doubleheader up to a 10:00am start. It was set for a noon first pitch.
Weather forecasts call for heavy rains in East Texas around 3:00pm on Saturday afternoon.
SAGU head coach Jonathan Shockley stated early on Friday evening that Nic Morgan (Ft. Worth, Tx / LeTourneau, Boswell HS), a senior lefthander, will start the first game. John Savis (Canton, Tx / Canton HS), a sophomore righty, will get the nod in Game Two.
Southwestern carries a 10-12 record into the twinbill, though they are 0-9 in the Red River Athletic Conference. Wiley College is 3-12 overall and 1-7 against league competition. The Lions split a pair with Howard Payne University on Tuesday while the Wildcats did similarly against both Prairie View University and LeTourneau University since Sunday.
Rescheduling the solo game with Wiley has yet to be determined.
The Lions are off next week for Spring Break. They resume action with a road double-dip in Brownwood, Texas on Tuesday, March 20, versus Howard Payne.
SAGU opens a seven-game homestand on March 21 when Manhattan College (Kan) comes to town.
