SMA announces Spring 2013 giving projectWaxahachie, Texas — February 14, 2013 — The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Southwestern Missions Association (SMA) announced the Spring 2013 giving project during the semiannual missions convention on Tuesday, Jan. 22 - Thursday, Jan. 24. Proceeds will go to SAGU alumni Jeremiah and Bethany Feicht and the Jackson Hole, Wyo., church plant.

SMA Secretary Madelynn Clements says, "This semester's giving project is unique in that we are encouraging students not only to raise funds, but to personally volunteer and join the ministry we are supporting."

The Feichts have requested volunteers to fill ten positions: community coordinator, connection coordinator, business administrator, team administrator, logistics director, early childhood director, kid's ministries director, student ministries director, worship leader and creative director.

SMA usually asks the campus body to raise a set amount for the giving project. This semester SMA asked each student to decide on a personal amount to pledge. So far, the student body has pledged to raise $14,885.

The Feichts plan to relocate to Jackson Hole by Summer 2013. The first year of ministry will primarily consist of building relationships in the community. They anticipate launching worship services in Fall 2014.

"We want the church and our evangelistic strategy to be based heavily on relationships," says Jeremiah. "We will show the community that we love them and want to serve them by partnering with some of the community's non-profit organizations."

Jeremiah describes Jackson Hole and the target audience of the church plant: "Jackson Hole is home to a transient community. Its economy is based on tourism and emphasizes outdoor recreation. The majority of the churches there minister to the 65 and older population, but the largest segment of the population is between ages 25-35. This is the segment of the population that the plant will focus on reaching."

Jeremiah, originally from Mansfield, Ohio, graduated from SAGU in Spring 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in media ministries and in Fall 2012 with a Master of Arts in organizational leadership.

Bethany is from Lake Jackson, Texas. She graduated in Spring 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in in cross-cultural missions and in Fall 2012 with a Master of Education in early childhood/elementary education. Their son Grady will turn 1 year old on March 28.
