Four teams play two games apiece in less than 24 hours

basketball-aflameWAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  The annual SAGU Basketball Classic is less than a month away and the anticipation is building.

Southwestern Assemblies of God University will again host the event, which will feature four women’s teams from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

The Lady Lions will open their season earlier in the same week as the SAGU Classic, which is slated for Friday and Saturday, November 8-9.

Their season tip-off is on Tuesday, Nov. 5, when the Lady Lions play host to Dallas Christian College at 6:00pm (CST).

The men's team will play DCC at 8:00pm in the third annual Texas Snowstorm

The games will be broadcast in HD by SAGU Sports Live.

As for the Classic, the other three teams will be Texas Wesleyan University, LSU-Shreveport and McPherson College (Ks).

Texas Wesleyan and SAGU are new members in the Sooner Athletic Conference, while Louisiana State University in Shreveport hails from the Red River Athletic Conference.

McPherson plays in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Three of the competing teams are led by coaches who have been at their present school for years. McPherson hired their coach, Gordon Reimer, during the summer.
