Waxahachie, TexasMarch 28, 2012Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) alumna Carisma Reyes will walk 250 miles in 21 days with 38 other women for the “Back to Life” movement in an effort to raise awareness of the injustices of abortion.

The 39 walk participants chose to sacrifice their time to walk from a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Houston, Texas, to the Dallas courthouse where Roe versus Wade was tried. The walk began on Saturday, March 17 and will end on Friday, April 6. The women will walk 12 to 13 miles per day.

Each of the 39 women represent the number of years that abortion has been a legal practice in America. All participants, including Reyes, have been touched in some way by abortion. On the “Back to Life” Movement website, Reyes shares her testimony of how she and her family were affected by abortion and how her family was restored.

Supporters can promote the cause through social networking sites and tune into the daily live stream of the 39 ladies’ journey, complete with updates and testimonies from each of the participants.

During her update of the walk, Reyes noted the experiences that the ladies’ have had on their journey thus far.

“A lot of women had to sacrifice time at their jobs and with their families to participate in the walk, but we believe that it is where God has placed us for this time,” Carisma said.

Current SAGU student Charis Bobb-Semple is a strong supporter of the “Back To Life” Movement, frequently using social networking to spread the word about the cause. She suggests that it is not the only way to get involved with the movement. “Another way to get involved is to pray fervently,” she said.

“The walkers know that ‘the battle is not against flesh and blood,’ so much spiritual covering is needed for strength, health and protection, both physically and spiritually.”

“If I could say one thing to someone considering abortion, I would tell them to stop and consider the calling that is on that baby’s life,” Reyes shared. “Regardless of the circumstance, they have a purpose.”

On April 5 and 6, the 39 walkers will be joined by thousands of women from across the nation as they enter Dallas. The event, titled “The Esther Call” will join “The Call” organization and the “Back to Life" Movement. The event is expected to be a historical assembly of women affected by and passionate against abortion.
