SAGU alumnus holds book signing on campus
Waxahachie, TX – March 5, 2012 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) alumnus Bart Cannon held a book signing SAGU’s Nelson Memorial Library for his new book titled “From Janitor to Justice: The Life of Felipe Reyna.”
Cannon has an extensive business background, coupled with many years of experience as a bi-vocational pastor and church leader. His message has spanned to several countries, including Honduras, South Africa, Mozambique, Siberia (Russia) and several states across the United States.
Bart Cannon graduated from SAGU with a master’s in Theological Studies. Cannon also has a master’s degree in Leadership Studies from Dallas Baptist University and earned a business degree from the University of Alabama.
Even as a distance education (DE) graduate student, Cannon thoroughly enjoyed SAGU. He enjoyed the “fly-in” DE courses that allowed him to meet his peers and professors and the college campus environment. “I enjoyed everything about my time at SAGU,” says Cannon. “I love to learn and met fantastic people.”
While pursuing his graduates studies at SAGU, Cannon was writing “From Janitor to Justice." Cannon has also written many articles for the "Cleburne Times-Review.” Over the years he has written many “human interest” style articles about current events from a spiritual perspective and interviews with sports personalities and musicians.
“My hope was that the theology degree would lead to opportunities to teach biblical topics at some point,” says Cannon. Cannon later plans on teaching at a Bible college or missions training school in the United States or overseas. This fall, Cannon plans on pursuing a Master of Divinity.
In 2003, Bart Cannon also wrote his book titled “Champions Through Christ: Winning the Game of Life," which weaves Alabama’s Paul “Bear” Bryant’s football formula with biblical principles. The book includes testimonies of former players and a challenging message from Cannon’s personal testimony.
“From Janitor to Justice” is an authorized biography of Justice Felipe Reyna, the story goes from his upbringing in a poor family to his graduating at the top of his class and becoming a judge in Texas. Reyna’s story later was called “a dream as big as Texas.”
Several reviews on Cannon’s book suggest that it should be read by every American child because of its display of the fulfillment of the American dream. The biography is available on Amazon.
