Steinway Project Nears Completion

In April 2009, the SAGU Music Department began the process to become an All-Steinway School.  After only a year of fundraising, the project is nearly complete.  While twenty-one pianos have been purchased, the department still needs approximately $149,500 to purchase the remaining two grand pianos and officially join the elite group of All-Steinway Schools.

As SAGU continues to grow and expand curriculum, the Music Department's goal is to provide students with the best musical instruments available.   In becoming the first A/G institution to become an All Steinway School, SAGU will join an elite class of institutions exclusively using Steinway pianos.  This class includes The Juilliard School in New York, Yale School of Music, and Carnegie-Mellon University School of Music.

“We're so close to reaching our goal!  The Music Department is extremely thankful for the many donors who have been so generous,” remarked Linda Robins, Music Department Chair.  "We hope to complete the fundraising project by this summer in anticipation of a Fall 2010 'All-Steinway' designation.   With just a few more people to give us that final push, we are well within reach of the finish line.”
