English Professor Launches Poetry Open Mic Night
Waxahachie, TX – March 22, 2011 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) English Professor Amy George partners with Zula’s Coffee House to launch "The Circle" poetry open mic night this Thursday, March 24 at 6 p.m. The event will occur weekly and is open to the Waxahachie community.
George explains that the event will be a place for poets to receive exposure, but will be in a workshop/critique format. George holds a master's degree of fine arts in creative writing with a specialization in poetry. She feels her education is a means to give back to the community. “Open mic night is beyond just a course or even the walls of the university. It’s purpose is to bring the students and poets of the community together.”
