Graduate Students Participate in Christian Counselors of Texas Conference
Dr. Thelisa Nutt and a group of students from SAGU’s graduate Counseling program participated in the 2010 Christian Counselors of Texas (CCT) conference. The conference was held February 11-13 in Austin, Texas.
“During the conference, students were able to sit in on professional workshops on biblical integration in psychology, play therapy, helping clients deal with loss, emotional fitness, etc.,” Dr. Nutt commented. “It was an excellent conference.”
CCT believes in Christian counseling and is dedicated to supporting Christian counseling by providing support, training and encouragement to lay persons and professionals involved in counseling. Dr. Dan Allendar of Mars Hill Seminary was the keynote speaker for the 2010 conference.
“I found this conference to be very educational and inspiring,” said graduate student Sharon Lopez. “I was very impressed with the great speakers and the insight given towards the integration of my faith with counseling and its therapeutic benefits!”
According to Paula Taylor, “This conference provided me with enormous insight into the demands and opportunities counselors have when working with clients and a variety of therapeutic options I had yet to consider. On a more personal note, the Lord provided some additional academic and career directives.”
