"Humbug" is an adaptation of the classic tale "A Christmas Carol," by Charles Dickens. Ebenezer Scrooge is an old, penny-pinching, unhappy Englishman who does not believe in the Christmas spirit. The ghost of Scrooge's former business partner, Jacob Marley, warns him to change his ways before he suffers a dreadful fate. Three Christmas spirits then visit him: the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. Scrooge travels through time, learning the importance of the season and the timeless lesson that it is never too late for a man to change his ways.
SAGU offers a degree program in theatre. "Humbug" follows recent performances of other well-know plays including "12 Angry Jurors," "Over the River and Through the Woods," "The Boys Next Door," “1984,” “Pride & Prejudice,” “It’s A Wonderful Life,” and “Arsenic and Old Lace.”
