Professor releases third comedy album
Waxahachie, Texas — December 18, 2012 — Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) professor Garland Owensby released his third comedy CD titled "Manly-Man."
Owensby's comedy album "Manly-Man" was recorded during two live shows in Waxahachie. "This album is the most personal of my three recordings," says Owensby. "It deals with the funny side of not being the stereotypical man who has a truck, a gun and watches football."
Owensby frequently travels doing stand-up comedy, and has performed his unique brand of stand-up before audiences of over 4,000 in churches, camps conventions and comedy venues such as The Improv and Hyenas.
"Comedy is a way to express the struggles that many people have with not living up to expectations," Owensby says.
Garland earned a bachelor's degree in pastoral ministries from Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God in Lakeland, Florida. He holds a Master of Science in practical theology and a Master of Arts in bible & theology from Southwestern Assemblies of God University. He also completed a Doctor of Educational Ministries degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, Texas.
Owensby has also contributed to YouthWorker Journal, Youth Leader Magazine, The Ocala Star Banner, the Pentecostal Evangel, TheRomantic.com, The52.com, Momentum Leadership Training, The Evangel, and the book "Hot Illustrations for Youth Talks 3" and to Group Magazine writing the feature article “Uncommon Communion.”
