SAGU alumna joins 1 Girl Nation, releases debut album
Waxahachie, Texas — October 4, 2013 — Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) alumna Kayli Robinson joins Christian band 1 Girl Nation (1GN). Reunion Records released 1GN's self-titled debut album on August 16, 2013, and has had chart success, topping iTunes Christian albums at #5.
Robinson said, "We’re different people but with the same goal: to share the love of Christ through the gift of music."
1GN is a Christian contemporary group from Nashville, Tenn. The band consists of five vocalists: Kayli Robinson, Lauryn Taylor Bach, Lindsey Ciresi, Carmen Justice and Kelsey Sowards. "While We’re Young" is the first radio single off the album.
They are the newest addition to Reunion Records, a branch of the Provident Label Group LLC and a unit of Sony Music Entertainment. They have signed artists like Steven Curtis Chapman, Casting Crowns, Tim Timmons, Brandon Heath, Tenth Avenue North, and Third Day.
Kayli Robinson was born in the Philippines in 1988. An American family adopted her the day she was born. She said, "My biological mother wanted me to have a life she knew she couldn't provide for me in an impoverished country, so she put me up for adoption. It truly was the biggest act of love I've been shown, besides my family adopting me."
She is the youngest of three and the only adopted child in her family. After living in the Philippines, Italy, Hawaii, and Germany, her family moved to Deltona, Florida, where she attended Trinity Christian Academy.
In 2011, Robinson graduated from SAGU with a Bachelors of Arts in church ministries. She also attended The Oaks School of Leadership, which is affiliated with The Oaks Fellowship Church in Red Oak, Texas. She shared, "The friendships that I attained and the way my professors poured into my life has forever changed me. They invested in my walk with Jesus and showed me what it looks like to live sold out to Christ."
1GN is on a 100-date tour across the United States with the Secret Keeper Girl tour. Best-selling author Dannah Gresh created this tour to offer mothers connecting experiences with their teen daughters to discuss topics like modesty, true beauty, and healthy friendships from a biblical perspective.
Robinson said, "I get a chance to talk about my adoption. I promote an organization called Holt International that helps children all over the world find sponsors so they can have clean water, clothes and meals every month."
When asked about her goal in the music industry she said, "My ultimate goal is to share my story and pray that my songs can help change lives and strengthen believers' relationships with the Lord."
