SAGU hosts Credentialing Day 2011
Waxahachie, TX – November 1, 2011 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) held its fourth annual Credentialing Day on October 27, 2011. Credentialing Day allows students to meet with district representatives regarding ministerial credits with the Assemblies of God.
There were more than 15 representatives present at the event and a total of 212 students that participated. Students who did not have a their district representative present visited with other district personnel. Also, Students were able to begin their application process.
“I dream of the day when there are just as many students from both colleges – the College of Bible and Church Ministries as well as the College of Arts and Professions – participating in Credentialing Day,” says Dean for College of Bible & Church Ministries LeRoy Bartel. “More and more students with majors of education, business, history, media and other liberal arts majors are becoming involved in planting a church, serving as a volunteer, part-time staff member in a congregation, or going overseas in missionary activity. Everyone is a ‘minister.’”
The represented districts included Arizona, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, North Texas, Oklahoma, Rocky Mountain, South Texas and West Texas. Students that participated in the event were from the following districts and countries: Alabama, California, Florida, Gulf Latin District, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Dakota, Pen-Del, Southern Missouri, Tennessee, Texas-Louisiana Latin District, Washington, Wisconsin and Argentina.
“Our goal is for this wonderful event to grow,” says Bartel. “I would like to see SAGU producing more credentialed ministers than any other school in the Assemblies of God.”
