Dr. Alexander is currently in his twenty-fourth year at Southwestern. During his tenure, he served for eight years, (1992-2000), as the university’s Vice President for Academics. He also was a member of the Board of Directors of the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges. An ordained minister with the North Texas District Council of the Assemblies of God, Dr. Alexander’s ministry has encompassed numerous roles: youth minister, music minister, seminar speaker, and evangelist. For thirteen years, Dr. Alexander was Co-Pastor of First Assembly of God in Commerce, Texas. Alexander’s ministry not only includes preaching but also ministry in song and music. Dr. Alexander and his wife, Dr. Amy Alexander, constantly travel ministering in seminars and revival services, in addition to their responsibilities at the university.

Dr. Hester holds a Doctorate of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary in California. While at Fuller, Hester specialized in church growth where he was mentored by Peter Wagoner. Not only has he studied it, Hester has used the church growth principles successfully in his 30 years of pastoral ministry. He most recently pastored at First Assembly in Bartow, Florida. Under his leadership, the church grew from 150 to 450. Prior to this he served as Interium, Associate and Senior Pastor at churches in Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, and Texas.

Dr. Brooks has been in educational ministry for sixteen years. In addition to SAGU, he has taught at Central Bible College and Commonwealth Bible College, Sydney Australia. His ministry experience includes serving as a Youth Pastor and Senior Pastor. He has been the featured speaker at leadership retreats and has been published in academic journals. He currently serves as the Vice President of Academic Affairs at SAGU since 2000.

Bruce Rosdahl is an Associate Professor and the Department Chair for Bible and Theology. Before coming to SAGU, he served as church planter, senior pastor, and Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Latin American Bible Institute in San Antonio. He is currently completing a Ph.D. in Theological Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary, where his dissertation is on the doctrine of sanctification in the Assemblies of God.

Dr. Larry Goodrich has been an ordained minister for thirty years. He has spent five years as a school teacher and associate pastor, before serving as a school administrator for thirteen years--both as a principal and a superintendent. For the last seventeen years, Dr. Goodrich has been a professor and associate professor. Teaching and preparing others to teach are Dr. Goodrich’s gifting. His teaching strengths are in Educational Administration, New Testament studies, Church History, Christian Education, and especially Comparative Religion and Cult Awareness Studies.

Dr. Tim Myers, D.Min., LMFT is a member of the faculty and Director of Student Counseling Services at Southwestern Assemblies of God University. He has an M.S. in Counseling Psychology from SAGU and a Doctorate of Ministry degree in Marriage and Family from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Has more than 30 years of experience working with Chi-Alpha, as a youth and associate pastor, as well as being a college professor and counselor. He served for 17 years in pastoral ministry at First Assembly of God, Minot, ND where he was a volunteer Police Chaplain 13 of those years. Dr. Myers is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas and a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Texas. He and his wife, Sue have been married for 35 years and have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren.

Teaching Experience
Dr. Mapes is a professor and the Chairman of the Department of Counseling/Psychology at Southwestern Assemblies of God University. (SAGU) In addition to overseeing the Counseling/Psychology department he also teaches counseling and psychology courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. Dr. Mapes has taught courses in Bible, theology, sociology, counseling, and psychology at the college and university level.
Counseling and Mental Health Experience
Dr. Mapes served as the Director of a community Crisis Center providing crisis intervention services. He developed special programs to train paraprofessionals in crisis counseling, organized a daily support and assistance program to aging adults, developed a peer counseling support program for children, established support groups and gave crisis assistance to victims of family violence, and established a program for the distribution of food and emergency aid. His weekly newspaper column, “Crisis Lines” dealing with mental health issues, was published in several North Texas newspapers. Dr. Mapes has also served as the Director of Counseling and Placement at SAGU. Dr. Mapes established North Texas Counseling and Education Services, a community counseling service that provides individual, group, and marriage counseling. He currently serves as its administrative director and remains active in community counseling.

Dr. Harden has given extensive service in Christian education as well as pastoral ministry. He has twenty-three years of pastoral ministry experience filling the roles of Senior Pastor, Senior Associate, and Christian School Administrator.
Additionally, Harden has considerable academic experience. He received his Doctorate of Ministry from Concordia Theological Seminary and has taught for several academic institutions: Trinity Bible College, Ellendale-ND; Jimmy Swaggert Bible College, BAton Rouge-LA; Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, Springfield-MO; and Southwestern Assemblies of God University, Waxahachie-TX.
Dr. Harden has made outstanding contributions to Southwestern's academic community in the Division of Bible and Church Ministries as a Professor and the Coordinator of Christian Education. After having been a participant in SAGU's graduate curriculum since the program's inception, Dr. Harden now holds the position of Dean of the Harrison School of Graduate Studies at SAGU.

Dr. John Wyckoff has served as a pastor, preacher, teacher, and author for many years. He is well known throughout the Assemblies of God for his writings on the Holy Spirit. When studying for his Ph.D. in Religion from Baylor University, his dissertation topic was "The Relationship of the Holy Spirit to Biblical Hermeneutics." He wrote the chapter on "The Baptism in the Holy Spirit" in Systematic Theology, published by Logion Press in 1994. Recently, he contributed the chapter on "The Inspiration and Authority of Scripture" in The Bible, The Word of God published by Gospel Publishing House in 2003. Wyckoff is also a frequent speaker at Christian Education training events.

Dr. Adonna Otwell has post Doctoral hours from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. She is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. She has served on faculty at SAGU since 1974 as a professor of Bible and Physical Education. She is an experienced conference and seminar speaker. She served as the first faculty representative on the Administrative Committee here at Southwestern.

Dr. Loyd Uglow is a retired commander in the United States Naval Reserve. He currently serves on the board of elders of First Assembly of God in Waxahachie, Texas. In addition to his many duties, Dr. Uglow enjoys spending time with his family and gardening, as well as reading and writing. He is the author of Standing in the Gap, a book which covers military activities on the Texas frontier in the late nineteenth century, and two historical biographies for young people, Abraham Lincoln: Won’t You Ever Give Up? and Benjamin Franklin: You Know What to Say, Most recently, he is co-author of For the Whole World,a history of Southwestern Assemblies of God University, which was published in fall 2003.

Dr. Townsend's doctorate is in supervision, administration, and curriculum development. She has experience both in public and private schools for over twenty years in grades 6-12. She holds certifications in Principalship, English and Speech/Drama as classsroom teacher in secondary schools, school counseling K-12, English Second Language K-12.
She has been the CEO of a real estate school for ten years, Superintendent of ECIA, a Texas Public Charter School for 4 years, and a licensed real estate agent. She is an educational speaker for workshops and faculty training for schools and an inspirational speaker for churches and women's groups in Texas, Sri Lanka, Romania, and Costa Rica.

Dr. Langston holds a Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he specialized in Church administration. His doctoral dissertation has brought about a better understanding of the polity in the Assemblies of God. He has served churches in Texas as youth pastor, associate pastor, interim-pastor, Christian education director, and Christian school administrator. He is a sought-after-speaker at Christian Education training events. He teaches an adult Sunday School class at Bethel Temple in Ft. Worth where his wife Tonya serves as the children's pastor. Dr. Langston also serves as a U.S. Army Reserve Chaplain.

Dr. Carmen holds many licenses, certifications, and memberships among the psychology community and the Christian community. He is a licensed Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Texas. In addition, Dr. Carmen has authored and/or coauthored four textbooks that stress Christian psychology. He is also an Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God.

Professional Experience: Dr. Collins has served over thirty years as a Foreign and Home Missionary with the Assembly of God. He has worked in Senegal and Cameroon Africa, Belgium, Arizona, Oklahoma and Texas. His ministry has included serving as Academic Dean of Continental Theological Seminary Brussels Belgium, President of American Indian College Phoenix Arizona, Missionary in Residence at Central Bible College, Assembly of God Theological Seminary, and Southwestern Assembly of God University. Clement Gibson joined the Music Department at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 1993. He received the B. M. E. degree from Lee University (Cleveland, Tennessee), and the M..A. in Music Education from Marshall University (Huntington, West Virginia). He is presently pursuing a Ph. D. in Music Education at the University of North Texas (Denton, TX). While a student at Lee University, he toured with the Lee Singers extensively throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Europe. The European tour was sponsored by the Pentagon with the mission being to minister to the U.S. military bases in Europe.
When in the U.S. Army, Mr. Gibson received his Russian Linguist Certification from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, California. He has been able to use his Russian skills in Russia and plans to return as soon as possible.
Mr. Gibson has taught music in public schools, in Christian schools and has served as Minister of Music in various churches. He has written and arranged many songs for choir and orchestra. Mr. Gibson has recorded an instrumental album of his favorite hymns using a variety of sounds on an electronic keyboard. He has also recorded an album which presents a diversity of vocal styles. Mr. Gibson also ministers through the language of drama. Presentations by Clement Gibson are scripturally founded. Many include direct quotations from the Bible.

Darren has a passion for children that is seen in his efforts to reach kids, minister to families, and to help parents diligently pass on a Christian heritage to their children. Darren has been involved in Children's Ministry for about 20 years and Family Ministry for most of those years. He has served in three different churches as Pastor to Children/Families.
His speaking engagements have included Parenting Seminars, Couples' banquets, Men's retreats, Fathers-and-sons retreats, Fathers-and-daughters dinners, Mothers-and-sons dinners, Family camps, Children's camps, Special Touch camps (adults with mental disabilities), Royal Family Kids Camps (abused and neglected children).
His writings include a number of articles in various publications (Enrichment Journal, Christian Counseling Today, etc.) and a published book, “When God Became ApParent.”
His role is program director of the Children and Family Ministry programs at SAGU, which now includes both bachelor's and master's degrees. Darren and his wife, Wendy, have a mentoring style of ministry which helped them to grow many children and teens into adult children's workers. They operate with the same relational-pastoral-style of ministry as they mentor university students into ministry to children and families.

Professor McElhany joined the faculty of Southwestern in 1997, after over twenty years of pastoral ministry. He is an ordained Assemblies of God minister and has served as Senior Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Minister of Education. In 2003, McElhany co-authored For the Whole World: A History of Southwestern Assemblies of God University and the soon to be released, Faith and Fire: A History of the North Texas District of the Assemblies of God, 1905-2003. Other publications include “The Assemblies of God in Mississippi, 1900-1940,” Assemblies of God Heritage, Winter 1993 and Spring 1994. Dr. Jeff Magruder is an Assistant Professor of Bible and Church Ministries . He received his D.Min. at Gordon-Conwell where his doctoral advisor was Haddon Robinson. He is in demand as a speaker and currently serves as the pastor at Abundant Life Church in Grand Prairie, Texas. His research interests revolve around the intersection of an Expository Preaching Philosophy and Pentecostal Spirituality. His article"Why Pentecostals Don't Preach Expository Sermons" was featured in the May/June issue of Preaching Magazine. He is a member of the Academy of Homiletics and the Evangelical Homiletical Society.

Thelisa is an alumni of Southwestern A/G University. She completed her Masters of Arts at the University of Houston-Clear Lake in Psychology. Thelisa is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the state of Texas. She recently completed her Ph.D. at Texas A&M University with a specialization in Adult Education. She has presented her research to the American Psychological Society and American Educational Research Association.
Thelisa was a professor in Behavioral Science for 9 years at North Harris Community College in Houston, TX. She was honored with the Teaching Excellence Award 1999-2000 at North Harris College. In addition, she was the National Mentor Program Manager for the Camden Corporation. Recently, she has teamed with the North Texas District to create the CounselCare Program. CounselCare provides professional counseling, pastoral care, and life coaching for ministers and their families.
Also, she is serving along side her husband, Rev. Stephen L. Nutt, Senior Pastor at Creekwood Church. Creekwood Church is a new church plant in Mansfield, Texas. She has a strong commitment to building strong families, Christian counseling, and the field of counseling/psychology.

Dr. Royer has ministered extensively as a missionary and church planter. As a missionary for 23 years, Royer wrote curriculum for Bible Schools in Brazil as well as for students worldwide through Global University and STAR ministries. He also served as the founding director of a Bible School in Sao Paulo and led church planting teams for three churches in Utah among the Mormons. While at SAGU, he has coordinated the planting of two inner city works in the Dallas-Metro area. One of the churches is located in one of the poorest areas of Dallas and the other church is a new work among international students at University of Texas in Arlington. He is considered one of the leading experts in the field of ethnic studies.

Garland Owensby was born and raised in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. He attended Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God in Lakeland, Florida, earning a B.A. in Pastoral Ministries.
For one year following graduation, Garland ministered as a children's/teen evangelist with Don Triplett and the Castillo del Rey team in El Salvador, Central America. A highlight of the year was leading over 400 students in spreading the gospel to over 150,000 people in just three days.
Following the missions experience, Garland married Tiffani Hester of Bartow, Florida and the two began a life of ministry together. They first youth pastored at Northside Assembly of God, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The group saw tremendous growth as well as discipleship and evangelistic involvement.
In 1993, Garland and Tiffani accepted the youth pastorate of First Assembly of God, Ocala, Florida. This group also saw great growth both in spiritual and numerical matters. Speed the Light giving quadrupled during his 4 1/2 years of ministry there. His family also experienced growth as his son Austin was born in April of 1997. Garland is pleased the most with the number of students that were called into full-time ministry while he youth pastored in Ocala. Many are in full-time ministry or training for it at this time.
In 1998, Garland completed his Master of Science in Practical Theology from Southwestern Assemblies of God University. The Fall of 1998 was his first semester as Youth Ministries Coordinator for SAGU. He is presently working toward a Doctor of Educational Ministries from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
Owensby has contributed to Youthworker Journal, Group Magazine, Youth Leader, The Ocala Star Banner and most recently to the book "Hot Illustrations for Youth Talks 3" edited by Wayne Rice.

Dr. Boone is in her second year as a professor at Southwestern. Prior to coming to SAGU, she taught for eleven years at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA where she was Coordinator of the Early Childhood Program. Before becoming a professor, Dr. Boone taught eleven years in private and public schools in grades PreK through eighth grade in four states. Dr. Boone also presents at various conferences and conventions around the nation including ACSI and AERA (American Educational Research Association). In addition to her teaching, Dr. Boone enjoys reading, sewing, and traveling. She has used these interests to involve elementary students in quilt projects for children who are severely ill, writing a grant to fund the project. Dr. Boone is married to Dr. Jerry Boone, Athletic Director and Men’s Basketball Coach at SAGU. She is very involved in supporting her husband to promote ministry through basketball. The Boones have been led a number of mission’s teams to the Philippines and Venezuela. They find that basketball is a great avenue for ministry.

Dr. Campbell has been involved in education for approximately thirty years. She has served in both public and Christian schools as a teacher and administrator. She has also served for fourteen years as Christian Education Director at Gospel Lighthouse Church. Dr. Campbell continues to travel as a guest speaker. She has been privileged to minister in several countries and a number of states speaking at conferences, conventions, churches, on the topics of education, Christian education, and early childhood education. In addition, Dr. Campbell has written a book on Bible doctrine and has published many articles. She has also written Christian Education curriculum for three publishing companies.

Dr. Price is Adjunct Professor of History in the History graduate program at Southwestern and is the senior pastor of a multi-cultural church in Wheaton, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.
His doctoral thesis, "Cotton Mather's Cosmology and the 1692 Salem Witch Trials," was the first doctoral thesis to thoroughly explicate Cotton Mather's theology in the context of the Salem Trials.
