Step of Faith

For nearly five years I have served in the area of graduate enrollment. I have had the opportunity to pour into the lives of many wonderful people. I have shared my own experience and guided hundreds of people into their next step of God’s plan.
The more I served the more I was enriched through new relationships.
This past year has been quite eventful in my own personal life. On December 25, 2004 my husband and I welcomed the birth of our first child, Tarryn Nicole Brumley. In that moment my world changed. I am now responsible for the fostering of a new life that will hopefully someday benefit as well from my experience and guidance as she finds her own path in God’s plan.
My husband and I have always lived our life by faith seeking God’s guidance for each new step. Some of these events have been shared in past articles of the Graduate Focus. But, this summer I was once again faced with a step of faith. I felt God’s leading to resign my position in Graduate Enrollment. This meant I would be forfeiting our health insurance and a substantial percentage of our household income.
My daughter had seen the doctor on a regular basis since her birth and I knew there was no more we could make our budget without my income. But, the more I prayed the more I felt it was the right thing to do.
I took that step of faith, resigned my position and God amazed me once again. That very week I was offered a full-time teaching load and had my proposal approved to work for the graduate school as a student advisor on a parttime basis from home. I could now focus on things I love the most—teaching and my family. All it took was me taking that step of faith.
In my last enrollment article for the Graduate Focus, please allow me to encourage you to take your own step of faith. Don’t be hindered by what seems impossible to overcome. Through God all things are possible. He will take care of our needs as long we walk in the path He has directed.
Call Mike Thompson (888-937-7248, ext. 4817), the new enrollment counselor, and take that step today.
