The SAGU 2008 Golf Classic
The Lions Athletic Department is sponsoring this great weekend of golf and fellowship at the Riverchase Golf Club in Coppell, TX. The tournament is set for May 3, 2008.
What is a Golf Classic?
A Golf Classic is a fundraising event that not only raises money, but gives Southwestern Assemblies of God University exposure to nearly 1,000 people while providing golf lovers and friends of SAGU a weekend of fellowship, food, and great golf! The event starts with 20-25 VIPs getting together for a practice round on May 2nd at the Riverchase Golf Course. Each VIP has a goal to raise $2,000 in sponsorships by going to family, friends, and business associates and asking for pledges to play in the tournament on May 3rd, 2008.
How does it work?
The goal is for you, as a VIP, to get sponsors to pledge a one time gift for the golf classic. The ideal situation would be for the sponsor to go ahead and write the check payable to the SAGU Athletic Department and give it to you to bring to the classic. If they would rather send in the check later, just have them fill out the pledge card found in your packet and bring that with you. We will collect the money later. Remember, all donations are tax-deductible!
How will the proceeds be used?
The proceeds from the classic will go directly to the SAGU Athletic Department and be used to help improve our athletic programs. This might include equipment upgrades, scholarships, staffing, or anything the department sees as a need.
Matching Gifts
Many companies participate in a matching gift program. They often will match or exceed the charitable contribution of their employees. If your company participates in matching gift programs please indicate this on the sponsorship form. This is a great way to increase the total contribution!
