Faculty Member Kristi Martin Re-elected to Executive ACSI Board
SAGU adjunct faculty member Kristi Martin was recently elected to a second term on the Executive Board of the Association of Christian Schools International. The board is comprised of approximately 35 educators from around the world. The early education services representative, Martin is the only preschool educator and one of five women on the board.
According to Martin, “The most rewarding part of being involved with ACSI is simply being able to speak for early education amongst such highly regarded Christian educators. Many of the men on the board have written the very textbooks that we use in the education department at SAGU.”
As part of the board, Martin has helped establish a separate early education services committee. She has also been on the founding Accreditation Governance Commission that oversees the newly developed PreK-12 grade accreditation tool. This group oversees ACSI’s accreditation, including accreditation for all of the organization’s international programs. Martin helped write these new accreditation manuals and procedures. Martin also presented trainings for ACSI’s International Early Education Leadership Conference, ACSI’s South Central Region’s Early Education Conference and ACSI’s South Central Teacher’s Conference last year.
“The most humbling experience is seeing how God is moving in Christian schools overseas,” Martin commented. “There are principals in countries all over, especially in Africa and Asia, who are asking for our help to establish Christian schools to reach God’s children.”
Martin has been part of SAGU’s faculty for almost a year. She teaches four core Master’s of Early Education Administration courses. This past year, Martin was designated as an approved writer for Focus on the Family’s magazine Thriving Families.
