General Institutional Tuition Grants
Students are only eligible for one Institutional Tuition Grant at a time. Students qualifying for more than one Institutional Tuition Grant will receive the larger of the eligible grants. The combination of all institutional scholarships and institutional grants can not exceed the total amount of tuition and fees.
ACHIEVE Tuition Grant
CRITERIA: For undergraduate students who have attended SAGU previously, but have not completed a bachelor’s degree. Students must have not attended for at least one academic year. Please note that new students to SAGU and current SAGU students are NOT eligible to receive the ACHIEVE grant.
Distance Education Students: All new Distance Education (DE) students are required to complete the DE version of a course called Strategies for Student Success. This 2 hour course also serves as your orientation to DE.
ACHIEVE provides you with a grant equal to the tuition cost of the Strategies for Student Success course during your first semester.
If you have already completed the DE version of Strategies for Student Success, you can still receive a tuition grant equal to the cost of 2 credit hours during the first semester.
If you enroll in 8 credit hours or more, ACHIEVE provides an extra hour of tuition grant, equaling the cost of 3 credit hours which will be applied in the first semester only.
On Campus Students: On-campus students must be full-time (12 hours per semester or more) to receive the grant. The ACHIEVE grant is equal to the cost of 3 credit hours and will be divided equally between the first and second semester.
How to Apply: Contact the Admissions Office to re-apply for SAGU admissions. Complete the ACHIEVE Tuition Grant Application and turn it in to the Financial Aid office.
Assemblies of God Ordained Ministers and Dependents
CRITERIA: Assemblies of God Ordained Ministers, Spouses, and Dependent Children*. Dependent Children* must be full-time undergraduate students. Ordained Ministers and Spouses must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students.
AMOUNT: 10% of the average full-time tuition package**. This is equally divided over fall and spring semesters.
Note: If the ordained A/G minister is deceased, and the spouse has not remarried, the grant is increased to 50% of the average full-time tuition package for Dependent Children*.

Assemblies of God Missionaries and Dependents
CRITERIA: Nationally Appointed Assemblies of God foreign or U.S. Missionaries, Spouses and Dependent Children*. Dependent Children*, must be full-time undergraduate students. Nationally Appointed Assemblies of God Missionaries and Spouses must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students.
Note: If the A/G Missionary is deceased, and the spouse has not remarried, the grant may still be applied.
AMOUNT: 50% of the average full-time tuition package**. This is equally divided over fall and spring semesters.

Spouse Grant
CRITERIA: When both husband and wife are enrolled full-time, one student will receive a 25% tuition grant. If one student is a graduate student, the tuition grant is based on the graduate full-time tuition package.
AMOUNT: 25% of the average full time tuition package.** These amounts are equally divided over fall and spring semesters.

Sibling Grant
CRITERIA: For families with more than one dependent, undergraduate student attending SAGU. All siblings must be enrolled full-time. Each sibling must complete a separate grant application. Applications must be submitted for each semester of enrollment. The grant is not retroactive.
AMOUNT: Grant amounts are as follows:
2 full-time siblings, each will receive 20% of tuition,**
3 full-time siblings, each will receive 25% of tuition, **
4 full-time siblings, each will receive 30% of tuition.**
5 or more fulltime siblings, each will receive 35% of tuition.**
Students must maintain the Standards of Academic Progress policy (SAP).

Students from Children’s Homes
CRITERIA: Student must be from certified A/G children’s home or other chartered orphanage.
AMOUNT: 50% tuition package.** Contact the Financial Aid Office to determine if specific homes/orphanages qualify for grant.

Executive Institutional Tuition Grants
Alumni Executive Council Grant
CRITERIA: Alumni Executive Council members, Spouses and Dependent Children*. Dependent Children* must be full-time undergraduate students, are eligible for the grant. Alumni Executive Council members and Spouses must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students.
AMOUNT: Dependent Children* residing on campus 100% tuition. Dependent Children* residing off campus, 50% tuition.** Alumni Association Presidents and Spouses, 50% tuition.**

Faculty or Administration of other Assemblies of God Schools Grant
CRITERIA: Faculty/Administrators of other Assemblies of God schools, Spouse, and Dependent Children*. Dependent Children* must be full-time undergraduate students. Faculty/Administrators must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students.
Verification of faculty/administrative position must be approved by Administrative Committee.
AMOUNT: Dependent Children* residing on campus 50% tuition.** Dependent Children* residing off campus, 25% tuition.** Faculty/Administrators and Spouses, 25% tuition.**

National and SAGU Regional District Officers
CRITERIA: Executive Officers of the Assemblies of God General Council and SAGU Regional District Councils (Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Secretary, and Treasurer) Spouses and Dependent Children*.
Dependent Children* must be full-time undergraduate students. Spouses must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students, are eligible for the grant.
AMOUNT: Dependent Children* residing on campus,50% tuition.** Dependent Children* residing off campus, 25% tuition.** Executive Officers and Spouses, 25% tuition.**

National and SAGU Regional District Youth Directors/Officers
CRITERIA: Executive Officers of the Assemblies of God National Youth Department and SAGU Regional District Youth Departments, Spouses, and Dependent Children*.

Executive Officers and Spouses must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students, are eligible for the grant.
The grant is limited to one grant per family per semester.

SAGU Board of Regents Grant
CRITERIA: Current Board of Regents member, Spouse and Dependent Children*. Dependent Children* must be full-time undergraduate students. BOR Members and Spouses must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students.
AMOUNT: Dependent Children* residing on campus, 100% tuition. Dependent Children* residing off campus, 50% tuition.** BOR Members and Spouses, 50% tuition.**

SAGU Foundation Board Grant
CRITERIA: SAGU Foundation Board Member, Spouse, and Dependent Children*. Dependent Children* must be full-time undergraduate students. Board Member and Spouse must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students.
AMOUNT:Dependent Children* residing on campus, 50% tuition.** Dependent Children** residing off campus, 25% tuition.** SAGU Foundation Board Member and Spouse, 25% tuition.**
SAGU Ex-Board of Regents Grant
CRITERIA: Dependent Children* of Board of Regents member who served on the BOR for 10 or more years. Dependent Children* must be full-time undergraduate students.
AMOUNT: Dependent Children* residing on campus, 100% tuition. Dependent Children* residing off campus, 50% tuition.**
SAGU Ex-Faculty Member Grant
CRITERIA: Dependent Children* of SAGU Faculty who served the University for 10 or more years. Dependent Children* must be full-time undergraduate students.
AMOUNT: Dependent Children* residing on campus, 100% tuition. Dependent Children* residing off campus, 50% tuition.**
*Definition of Dependent Student:
- Was the student born before January 1, 1983?
- Will the student be working on a master’s or doctorate program?
- Is the student married?
- Does the student have children or other dependents (other than a spouse) who receive more than half of their support from the student?
- Is the student an orphan or was (until age 18) the student a ward/dependent of the court?
- Is the student a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces?
- Are you or were you an emancipated minor as determined by a court in your state of legal residence?
- Are you or were you in legal guardianship as determined by a court in your state of legal residence?
- At any time on or after July 1, 2008, did your high school or school district homeless liaison determine that you were an unaccompanied youth who was homeless?
- At any time on or after July 1, 2008, did the director of an emergency shelter or transitional housing program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development determine that you were an unaccompanied youth who was homeless?
- At any time on or after July 1, 2008, did the director of a runaway or homeless youth basic center or transitional living program determine that you were an unaccompanied youth who was homeless or were self-supporting and at risk of being homeless?
An answer “Yes” to any of the above questions would cause the student to be considered independent and consequently ineligible for any of the Dependent Grants. Answering “No” to all questions would cause the student to be considered dependent and eligible for the Dependent Grants.
** Undergraduate tuition grants are based on the average tuition package of SAGU undergraduate students. Graduate tuition grants are based on a 9 hour semester average. For 2009-2010, the following amounts will be applied:
10% Grant:
Undergraduate = $1,204
Graduate = $820
25% Grant:
Undergraduate = $3,010
Graduate = $2,048
50% Grant:
Undergraduate = $6,020
Graduate = $4,096
Federal and State Grants
Financial Aid is paid according to student enrollment as of the official census date. All aid is disbursed to student accounts as soon as possible after official enrollment has been determined.
Federal Pell Grant
Description: Need-based grant for undergraduates only.
Annual Amount: $976- $5,350 (Depends on enrollment status)

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
Description: Need-based grant for undergraduates only. For students with exceptional need-Pell Grant recipients. Limited funding.
Annual Amount: $1,000

Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG) LEAP Grant (formerly SSIG)
Description: Need-based state grant for Texas residents with no athletic scholarships. Full-time enrollment.
Annual Amount: Maximum award $3,808

Teach for Texas Conditional Grant
Description: Need-based grant to Texas resident; junior or senior in teacher education program; recommended by head of education department; commitment to teach 5 years in teaching field or community with critical shortage. Note: Funding is very limited for this program. Becomes a loan if student fails to meet teaching obligation.
