Upon graduation from Southwestern Assemblies of God University at the age of 23, I would have never dreamed that 30 years later I would be asked to serve as the Vice President of University Advancement at Southwestern. The office of Advancement is responsible for raising the funds necessary for the University to exist. With an ever growing budget that has reached $25 million a year, this is no small task. It is with a true love for Southwestern that I approach this task. I am thankful for the thousands of alumni and friends of Southwestern who are responding in that same love. Before coming to Southwestern, I was in pastoral ministry for over 30 years, having pastored Harvest Time A/G in Sherman, TX for the past 15 years. This great church was a strong supporter of the university and allowed me the opportunity to serve for the past 15 years with the Alumni Council of Southwestern. I served as the president of the Alumni Council for 6 years which enabled me to be on Southwestern’s Board of Regents. While serving on this board I realized the great need to increase the size of Southwestern’s Foundation. Over the past few years, I have applied myself to studying the various ways and instruments that can help people both support the Foundation and enhance their own stewardship. This past year, we brought on board Craig Rinas as our Planned Giving Director. Craig is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and is brilliant in answering questions regarding tax laws, investments, and securities.
