Biography

 

Stanley Steward joined the faculty of SAGU in the fall of 2012. Previously, he was history professor at Bethany University in Santa Cruz, Cali. He served at Bethany in three different capacities since 1977. He was Bible and theology professor from 1977-1989, while also serving as pastor of Aptos Assembly of God. Between the years 1992-2004 he established and directed Bethany College, Las Vegas. He was also a professor at this extension campus. During his 15 years in Las Vegas, he was lead pastor of Calvary Community Church, presbyter of the Southern Nevada Section of the Assemblies of God, Nor. Cal./Nevada District, and a history instructor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In 2005, Steward returned to Bethany’s Santa Cruz campus, this time as history professor and the Social Sciences Department Chair. He remained there until 2010. Steward has also taught at Continental Theological Seminary in Brussels, Belgium, and Asia Pacific Theological Seminary in Baguio, Philippines. He holds a lifetime credential in the state of California to teach (at the college level) in the areas of philosophy, religion, communications, and history. Dr. Steward wrote an article on religion in Nevada for the “Nevada Online Encyclopedia,” and in 2012, published a book entitled, “Where Sin Abounds: A Religious History of Las Vegas.” He has also written several articles that have been published in the “Pentecostal Evangel.”
