Jim McCorkle, D.Min.
Dr. Jim McCorkle currently serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Practical Ministries after retiring from 15 years of full-time faculty service at SAGU, 10 years as the chairman of the department.
Dr. McCorkle brings a wide array of ministry experience to the Department of Practical Ministries. He has served in a variety of pastoral-related positions in the Assemblies of God fellowship, including lead pastor, church planter, and youth pastor. In addition, he has served the fellowship as a sectional committee member (South Fort Worth) and as a district youth director (North Texas District). He was the denomination’s first full-time Ambassadors in Mission (the Assemblies of God youth witnessing program) Field Representative. In addition, he served as Secretary (now department head) of Youth in the national Youth Department of the Assemblies of God.
McCorkle attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University (1962-1964). He married Miss Rhonda Jo Adams (Miss Southwestern, 1964) and then transferred to the University of North Texas where he completed his undergraduate degree in sociology. He holds a Master’s degree in Biblical Literature from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (1978). In 2001 he received his Doctor of Ministry degree from AGTS―a practical ministries degree, with an emphasis on Pentecostal leadership.
McCorkle has two grown sons and eight grandchildren.
