Janice Whitaker, M.Ed.

Mrs. Whitaker has served SAGU since 1995. As the Director of Educator Certification, she assists both undergraduate and graduate students of Southwestern’s Education program in negotiating the certification process. Mrs. Whitaker is also an alumnus, having earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from SAGU in 1995 and Master of Education in 2000.
She has served in various elected positions in state education organizations. Mrs. Whitaker was President of the Texas Association of Certification Officers (T.A.C.O.) in 2004-2005 as well as serving in other elected positions in the organization prior to her election as president. The association’s purpose is to “create a forum for sharing ideas and common concerns among the colleges, universities and school districts of the State of Texas.” She also served on the Board for the Consortium of State Organizations for Texas Teacher Education (CSOTTE). This organization serves as a state voice of the education profession in all matters related to state and national educator preparation and certification.
Mrs. Whitaker is a member of the Alpha Epsilon Tau chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the International Honor Society in Education.
