Course Designer
Salary Range:   $10 - $18 Hourly

The purpose of Southwestern Assemblies of God University is to prepare undergraduate and graduate students spiritually, academically, professionally, and cross culturally so as to successfully fill evangelistic, missionary and church ministry roles and to provide quality educational and professional Christian service wherever needed throughout the world.
Primary Function
The Course Designer serves the School of Distance Education by assisting with the administration and technical support for the online course delivery systems and by assisting instructors with the creation of new courses.
Major Responsibilities
·      Course Development
o       Assist Subject Matter Experts in planning, organizing, designing, building, and gathering resources for new development
o       Assist instructors with semester-to-semester course updates, additions, and editing
o       Adapt tests, quizzes, assignments, and other assessment tools to the online environment
o       Add, edit, and organize course content items
·         Learning Management System Administration
o       Manage student access to special resource areas and supplemental courses in Blackboard
o       Assist in developing and maintaining course and instructor information database
o       Manage institutionally-supported course applications
o       Investigate and evaluate new technologies to enhance courses        
·         Technical Support
o        Answer phone calls, emails, web tickets, and face-to-face communication from students and faculty in a timely, professional, and courteous manner
o        Maintain support ticket tracking system
o        Develop and maintain training and support resources
o        Conduct and assist with recorded and face-to-face training sessions
·         Miscellaneous
o        Participate in required overtime for technical support and course design during peak times
o        Supervise student workers as needed
o        Assist with special projects and events as needed
o        Perform other duties as assigned
Organizational Relationships
The Course Designer reports to and is accountable to the Instructional Specialist.
·         Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
·         Available to work outside of normal business hours and provide after-hours support as scheduled
·         High level of organizational skills
·         High level of communication skills, including telephone and writing
·         High level of computer skills, including current Microsoft Office Suite
·         High level of initiative and self-motivation
·         High level of problem-solving skills
·         Ability to communicate effectively with superiors
