AustinCollegeMenresizeSherman, Texas- October 18, 2014- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s cross country team came in first place at the Austin College Invitational.  This is the first first-place finish for the season and only second in school history.  On the women’s team Destiny Garza finished 2nd overall.

On the women’s side, Destiny Garza finished 2nd overall with a time of 19:33.  With that time Garcia set a new school record, beating one of her own.  The women’s team did not have a full team in order to place overall.

“I am very proud of the teams and knew they had it in them,” says Head Coach Jason Covarrubias, “No doubt that this is huge momentum heading into the Sooner Championships.”

The next meet is the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships hosted by St. Gregory and Oklahoma City University on November 8th.  The meet will be held in Shawnee, Ok.
