Thank you for your interest in submitting your work to The Image for publication consideration. Below are some general and specific guidelines to be aware of when submitting your creative writing to our editors. Following these guidelines will give your work a greater chance of being selected for our journal.

A literary magazine of Southwestern Assemblies of God University, The Image, is a periodical exhibiting student, faculty, and administration writing.

We are looking to publish devotional pieces/personal reflections on faith, personal narratives (short memoirpieces), short stories, and poetry. While the creative pieces need not necessarily be spiritual in nature, pleasekeep in mind that the journal is reflective of our SAGU community when you are considering your submissions.

General Guidelines

Our deadlines for our reading periods are Thanksgiving Break for fall semesters and Spring

Break for spring semesters.

Please attach all submissions to your email in a Microsoft Word document format.

Please also include your name, address, phone number and email address with your submission. Please proofread your submissions before sending.

Please avoid overt political topics, rants, or other material that does not represent Christian values and attitudes.

SAGU will retain the first-time publishing rights and the right to publish your work in other SAGU publications.

We regret that we cannot offer monetary compensation for the use of your material.

Genre-Specific Guidelines

Devotionals

  • 500-1000 word maximum per submission
  • 2 submissions per author, per semester
  • Be sure to put the Scripture reference at the top of your submission, with the version of theBible to which you are referring.

Short Stories

  • 500-1000 word maximum per submission
  • 2 submissions per author, per semester

Personal Narrative/Memoir

  • 500-1000 word maximum per submission
  • 2 submissions per author, per semester

Poetry

  • 1-5 poems per author, per semester
  • Both free verse and metrical verse will be considered.
  • Please keep poems to 50 lines or less.
