Play-offs: The top four eligible finishers from this league will advance to a pre-determined playoff bracket.

Conduct and Disqualification: Good sports conduct is essential in Intramural Sports contests. Therefore, if a player or players are sent off from a game, they will receive a minimum, automatic one game suspension. The suspension of that player becomes effective immediately following the ejection and carries through the remainder of that game, and the following game. While on suspension, the player is not allowed to participate in any Intramural Sports-sponsored sport. In order to be reinstated for play, the player(s) must meet with the Director of Intramural Sports. Meetings take place at the availability of Intramural Sports Staff and must be scheduled appointments. Call (972) 825-4747 to schedule an appointment. Failure to meet with the above individual will maintain the suspension in full effect. In some cases where appropriate, the Intramural Sports Director may suspend the player(s) for a longer period. In extreme situations, the matter will be referred to the Office of Student Services.

  1. NUMBER OF PLAYERS: Five (5) players shall constitute a team; four (4) players are the minimum to start a game. A maximum of ten (10) players can suit up for a particular game. In addition, each team must furnish one person to assist in score keeping.
  2. ROSTER LIMIT: Each team is allowed a maximum of twelve (12) players on their Team Roster.
  3. UNIFORMS AND ATTIRE: Players should bring both a white and a dark shirt to each game. In addition, players shall not wear anything that may be dangerous to another player. Players may not wear hats and jewelry.
  4. FORFEIT AND AUTO-LOSS POLICY: A forfeit is awarded if the opposing team fails to show up at the scheduled game time or fails to produce the minimum number of players 15 minutes after the scheduled start time. Should they get sufficient players within 15 minutes of game time, or if they notified the Intramural Sports Office at least 24 hours in advance about an inability to field a team for their game, an automatic-loss shall be awarded. Any team that forfeits during the regular season will be ineligible for playoffs, no exceptions! Any team that forfeits their first regular season game, will be removed from the league and no refunds will be issued.
  5. LENGTH OF THE GAME: Each game will consist of two, twenty (20) minute halves with a three-minute halftime. Running time is used except for the last minute of the game where The clock will stop for all fouls, violations, jump balls, out-of-bounds, and time-outs unless one team is ahead by ten (10) points or more.
  6. OVERTIME: If the teams are tied at the end of regulation time, they will play consecutive three minute overtime periods of running clock until an overtime period ends with an untied score and a winner is decided. During the overtime period, teams continue toward the same goal as they did in the second half. Each team is awarded and additional time-out, in addition to any remaining time-outs they had before time expired.
  7. TIME-OUTS: Each team is allowed three time-outs per game. Any player on the court may request a time-out when their team is in control of the ball or during a dead ball situation; however, a time-out will not be granted when the opposing team has possession of the ball.
  8. FOULS: A player is disqualified from the game when he/she is assessed their FIFTH personal foul. It is a player's responsibility to verify his/her foul situation with the officials. On the SEVENTH team foul in each half, the opposing team is awarded a one-and-one free throw situation. On the TENTH team foul of each half, teams will be awarded two foul shots on all personal fouls.
  9. INTENTIONAL, FLAGRANT, AND TECHNICAL FOULS: Intentional, flagrant and technical fouls are penalized with an automatic two points awarded to the offended team and possession of the ball. Flagrant fouls are grounds for ejection from the game.

A player may be disqualified for receiving one (1) technical foul and will be disqualified for receiving two (2) direct technical fouls. The team captain is responsible for controlling the conduct of all players on his/her team and may be assessed a technical foul for not controlling the conduct of his/her players. Technical fouls include, but are not limited to:
