Senior in High School

Preparing for College Timeline

August:

  • Stay in contact with the special interest groups (athletic coaches, music and drama directors, etc.), Admissions Counselors, and Financial Aid Counselors on a monthly basis.

  • Submit your application.

  • Include the application fee with your application

  • Include your minister’s reference with your application.

  • Submit your first ACT scores (don’t worry, you can still send the college your ACT scores of the next couple of tests you take).

  • Schedule to take another ACT test in the fall.

  • Attend A/G District Youth Council and Youth Events. Knowing your District Youth Director (DYD) and Youth Pastor may help you access District scholarships as well as specific opportunities at A/G Colleges.

  • Don’t forget to seek out a part-time or volunteer job in the career field you are interested in. Deciding this now makes college life more exciting, less stressful, and more productive for you!

September:

  • Stay in contact with the special interest groups (athletic coaches, music and drama directors, etc.), Admissions Counselors, and Financial Aid Counselors on a monthly basis.

  • Submit an official incomplete High School transcript. You will need to submit your official complete High School transcript once you have graduated in May.

  • Submit any official complete and incomplete College transcripts you may have. You will need to submit your official complete College transcripts once you have complete all of the classes.

  • Submit CLEP scores (link to the CLEP information website). You may take CLEP tests all the way until your senior year in college. Contact the Registrars Office to submit these scores and have them applied to your college transcript.

  • Take your Junior Fall semester ACT test if you have not already.

  • Attend A/G District Youth Council and Youth Events. Knowing your District Youth Director (DYD) and Youth Pastor may help you access District scholarships as well as specific opportunities at A/G Colleges.

October:

  • Stay in contact with the special interest groups (athletic coaches, music and drama directors, etc.), Admissions Counselors, and Financial Aid Counselors on a monthly basis.

  • Take your Junior Fall semester ACT test if you have not already.

  • Attend A/G District Youth Council, Summer Campus, and Youth Events. Knowing your District Youth Director (DYD) and Youth Pastor may help you access District scholarships as well as specific opportunities at A/G Colleges.

  • Schedule a final campus visit to your top college for the fall or spring of your Senior year.

  • Attend A/G District Youth Council and Youth Events. Knowing your District Youth Director (DYD) and Youth Pastor may help you access District scholarships as well as specific opportunities at A/G Colleges.

November:

  • Stay in contact with the special interest groups (athletic coaches, music and drama directors, etc.), Admissions Counselors, and Financial Aid Counselors on a monthly basis.

  • Submit your Health History Form.

  • Submit Dorm Request Form with Dorm Deposit Fees. It is important to submit your request form and fees no later than July 1 st! After that time SAGU places students on a waiting list for dorm placement. You are guaranteed a room, but you may not get your preference.

  • Attend A/G District Youth Council and Youth Events. Knowing your District Youth Director (DYD) and Youth Pastor may help you access District scholarships as well as specific opportunities at A/G Colleges.

December:

  • Stay in contact with the special interest groups (athletic coaches, music and drama directors, etc.), Admissions Counselors, and Financial Aid Counselors on a monthly basis.

  • Attend A/G District Youth Council and Youth Events. Knowing your District Youth Director (DYD) and Youth Pastor may help you access District scholarships as well as specific opportunities at A/G Colleges.

  • Enjoy the Holidays!

January:

  • Stay in contact with the special interest groups (athletic coaches, music and drama directors, etc.), Admissions Counselors, and Financial Aid Counselors on a monthly basis.

  • Submit all wining Fine Arts Certificates to the Financial Aid Department (you may need to submit later certificates from competitions in the summer before you attend college).

  • Submit a second official incomplete High School transcript.

  • Inquire about all possible scholarships at the college of your choice, the priority deadline for SAGU scholarships is March 15.

  • Submit your FAFSA online at (FAFSA link). The sooner you submit this information, the more funds will be available to you.

  • For Texas Residents: talk to your Financial Aid Counselor about the Texas Equalization Grant (TEG)

  • Attend A/G District Youth Council and Youth Events. Knowing your District Youth Director (DYD) and Youth Pastor may help you access District scholarships as well as specific opportunities at A/G Colleges.

February:

  • Stay in contact with the special interest groups (athletic coaches, music and drama directors, etc.), Admissions Counselors, and Financial Aid Counselors on a monthly basis.

  • Schedule to take a final ACT test in the spring.

  • Schedule and make a final campus visit or attend a campus days event at the college of your choice.

  • Attend A/G District Youth Council and Youth Events. Knowing your District Youth Director (DYD) and Youth Pastor may help you access District scholarships as well as specific opportunities at A/G Colleges.

March:

  • Stay in contact with the special interest groups (athletic coaches, music and drama directors, etc.), Admissions Counselors, and Financial Aid Counselors on a monthly basis.

  • Priority Deadline for Scholarship Applications at SAGU is March 15!

  • Attend A/G District Youth Council and Youth Events. Knowing your District Youth Director (DYD) and Youth Pastor may help you access District scholarships as well as specific opportunities at A/G Colleges.

April:

  • Stay in contact with the special interest groups (athletic coaches, music and drama directors, etc.), Admissions Counselors, and Financial Aid Counselors on a monthly basis.

  • Attend A/G District Youth Council and Youth Events. Knowing your District Youth Director (DYD) and Youth Pastor may help you access District scholarships as well as specific opportunities at A/G Colleges.

  • Sit back and enjoy that fact that you are already prepared for college while your friends are still scrambling to make their minds up!

May:

  • Stay in contact with the special interest groups (athletic coaches, music and drama directors, etc.), Admissions Counselors, and Financial Aid Counselors on a monthly basis.

  • Attend A/G District Youth Council and Youth Events. Knowing your District Youth Director (DYD) and Youth Pastor may help you access District scholarships as well as specific opportunities at A/G Colleges.

  • Submit your official complete transcript to the college of your choice.

June:

  • Stay in contact with the special interest groups (athletic coaches, music and drama directors, etc.), Admissions Counselors, and Financial Aid Counselors on a monthly basis.

  • Attend A/G District Youth Council and Youth Events. Knowing your District Youth Director (DYD) and Youth Pastor may help you access District scholarships as well as specific opportunities at A/G Colleges.

  • Don’t forget to seek out a part-time or volunteer job in the career field you are interested in. Deciding this now makes college life more exciting, less stressful, and more productive for you! Also, this summer is the perfect time to save up money for those college expenses!

  • Contact the college about your room and roommate assignment. Make sure all of your housing and paperwork is taken care of.

July:

  • Stay in contact with the special interest groups (athletic coaches, music and drama directors, etc.), Admissions Counselors, and Financial Aid Counselors on a monthly basis.

  • Attend A/G District Youth Council and Youth Events. Knowing your District Youth Director (DYD) and Youth Pastor may help you access District scholarships as well as specific opportunities at A/G Colleges.

  • Pre-register for all of your Fall classes!!!

August:

Now it is time to buy all of the things you will need for your dorm room, say goodbye to friends and family, and begin your new college life!
