Introduction
History
1123 is a survey of the political, social, economic, military, cultural, and
intellectual history of the United States from the post civil war period to the
present. Emphasis will be placed on
such topics as Reconstruction, the rise of industrialization, the causes and
results of World War I, the Great Depression, the New Deal, the Second World
War and the Cold War. Topics will be
examined in such a way as to explain the present by probing and understanding
the past. This course meets three hours
of the state requirement for U.S. History, as well as degree requirements for
Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
Objectives
The
overall objective of this course is for the student to demonstrate at the end
of each unit of study through test responses and participation in various class
activities, a basic knowledge and understanding of themes and patterns which
have contributed to the development of economic, social, and political
institutions of the United States.
Specific objectives for guided study are listed in the course outline
and should be used to prepare for class discussions and for unit tests.
