Music Scholarship Application
The Music Department offers a scholarship for incoming students who are music majors. The following criteria is required:
- The scholarship is available through audition only. The applicant should make an
appointment to come on campus for the audition, or may submit a video (VHS format) for
the audition. The audition needs to include the following:
- Piano Audition:
--Major/minor scales and arpeggios (hands together in 2 octaves)
--A movement from a Classical sonata
--A contrasting work from a different time period (memorized)
--A hymn arrangement (memorized) - Voice Audition:
--Vocal Performance - 1 aria/art song, sight-reading, read through the text of a foreign language piece, observe piano skills by having the student play the melody of an aria.
--Music Education/Voice Specialization - 1 song (classical or contemporary), sight-reading, piano skills
--Music Ministries/Voice Specialization - 1 song (classical or contemporary), sight-reading, piano skills - Instrumental Audition:
--All major/minor scales - 2 octaves
--Two movements from a concerto or sonata (from the same or different piece of literature)
--Sight-reading

- Recipient must:
- Apply for admission to SAGU
- Declare Music as the major
- Be continuously enrolled full-time and maintain satisfactory academic progress in order to be eligible for a continuing scholarship
- All scholarships are disbursed over at least two semesters. Continuing scholarship (up to four years) is based on continued eligibility.
