Our Philosophy
Southwestern offers four undergraduate degree specializations in Communication Arts: media ministries, broadcasting, drama and communication studies. These academic tracks are designed to prepare students for media careers in church-related ministry, para-church organizations and marketplace environments. In today’s media-savvy culture, the bar of excellence is rising for all forms of contemporary communication.
Though the Church’s redemptive messages are timeless, the Kingdom of God in the 21st century deserves a creative, professional and relevant presentation. Students gain “hands-on” experience using state-of-the-art media equipment beginning with the first introductory course into the world of media production. Equipment includes post-production facilities on the Macintosh/Apple platform and software packages like Final Cut Studio. The Communication Arts faculty are highly qualified, experienced and passionate to inspire students to serve God in this expanding career/ministry field.
