Church Ministries
Southwestern equips you to accomplish the dream that God has placed in your heart. Through practical, hands-on ministry and classroom instruction you will receive a solid foundation for a fulfilling career.
You will learn to:
- Exegete, interpret, and apply selected passages of Scripture from a variety of literary types in keeping with their original, inteneded meaning;
- Prepare sermons and structure learning experiences, then present both acceptably to reach multi-cultural audiences;
- Present the Gospel message effectively in personal and corporate evangelical settings;
- Function effectively in your chosen specialization within the ministry of the church;
- Plan and conduct a variety of church services and ceremonies.
Ministry Opportunities
University-led and student-led ministry opportunities are available year-round. Student groups such as Crossfire, Jesus Time, Life, Pierce, Street Hope, and Unshackled provide ministry experience with people in need.
Music and drama ministry groups also provide opportunity to exercise the training that you will receive at Southwestern. There are also hundreds of churches in the Metroplex that provide ample opportunity to minister.
