Dedication given to Pearl Ellis in the Southwesterner 1968

Miss Pearl Ellis came to the Shield of Faith Bible Institute as a student in the year of 1940-41 from Wilson, Oklahoma.  She worked part time to make her way through school and graduated in 1943.  She was an earnest, consecrated student and was very serious about the work of the Lord.

In 1945 she returned to serve as Librarian and Study-hall supervisor.   At that time the school had only a small group of books which were not catalogued right and not used very much.  Miss Ellis went to Denton to North Texas State College and continued her educational preparation during the summers and became a well-trained librarian.

She has been responsible for securing and cataloguing thousands of books for the library.  She has zealously labored to keep the books in shape and available for the use of faculty and students.

On one occasion a faulty stove caused a fire in the old frame building and Miss Ellis fought the fire and saved the books at the cost of severe burns to her hands and arms.

For several years before it was built, she helped to plan and pray for the present fire-proof building.  For over twenty years she has laboured and provided the best library in any of the Assemblies of God schools.  This year Miss Ellis is listed in Who's Who of American Women.

(The Southwesterner..1968).
