SAGU makes Dallas Morning News Top 100 Places to Work 2nd-consecutive year

Southwestern Assemblies God University (SAGU) ranked 13th in midsize companies in The Dallas Morning News’ Top 100 Workplaces in DFW on Sunday, November 11, 2012.

SAGU President Kermit Bridges shared, "SAGU strives to create a positive workplace that results in an affirming learning environment for our students. Our recognition is a real honor given the many outstanding companies and organizations who participate in DFW Top 100 and provides encouragement that our efforts are making a difference."

For the fourth consecutive year, Dallas Morning News held its Top 100 Places to Work competition. In their research, they found that there is a correlation between happy employees and successful companies. Anyone can nominate a company for the list, but the company must allow employees to anonymously take part in a third party survey by WorkplaceDynamics. Two hundred and seventy six individuals were surveyed about pay, benefits, managers and more. 120,023 individuals received surveys, and 72,285 responded.

"It's a great honor for SAGU to be selected for the second year in a row as one of DFW's top 100 places to work," said Vice President of Enrollment and Retention Eddie Davis. "The award and recognition is a reflection of our great employees and their dedication to SAGU's mission. SAGU strives to create a family atmosphere among our faculty and staff, and in turn, they reflect that spirit as they serve our students and alumni."

"We think of the university as an entity but it is made up of inspiring people who instruct students, process paperwork for them, employee them and send those same students out into a lost world," Director of Human Resources Ruth Roberts added. "Much of the credit for this award goes to our wonderful employees."

Winners were selected based upon survey results. This year, Dallas Morning News ranked winners by small (less than 150 employees), midsize (150-499 employees) and large (500 employees or more) companies.

SAGU has implemented two incentives to increase productivity. When students are on summer vacation, employees are allowed 30 minutes of exercise time at the Garrison Wellness Center during their 8-hour work day. Additionally, half of the employee’s sick hours that are not used by the end of the year can be converted to vacation for the next year.
