Beadles earns 100th SAGU career win

Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Women's Head Basketball Coach Arlon Beadles achieved his 100th SAGU win on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, as the Lady Lions beat Dallas Christian College, 79-39. It was Beadles' 200th college basketball win.

SAGU Athletic Director Jesse Godding shared, "Arlon Beadles has led SAGU women’s basketball to unprecedented success during his tenure as coach.

Multiple twenty-win seasons, a berth in the NAIA National Tournament, NAIA and NCAA All-Americans, tremendous retention and graduation rates, are all testament to the stability Coach Beadles has brought to the SAGU women’s basketball program."

He continued, "His record has been accomplished with the character and integrity befitting the man of God he is and he is a great model for the younger coaches on the staff."

Beadles lead the Lady Lions to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in school history during the 2011-2012 season. He entered this season with 97 wins in seven years. Additionally, he was named the 2008-2009 Red River Athletic Conference (NAIA) Coach of the Year and the 2008-2009 NCCAA Central Region Coach of the Year.

Beadles coached high school, junior college and four-year institutions in men’s and women’s hoops for more than 30 years of coaching experience and more than 400 career wins. Prior to coaching the Lady Lions, he went 100-100 at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia. During his tenure at Emmanuel, he was named Coach of the Year three times.

Beadles has a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Southern Nazarene University, a master's degree in health and physical education from University of Central Oklahoma, and an educational specialist degree in educational leadership from Mississippi State University.
